Cognology
Cognology is about thinking and the Cognologist likes to think again.
Often we find that issues and concerns in the public context focus on plans, blueprints, and directions to guide and support individuals and organisations to achieve important social goals. Generally, we also like to think that people know what they are doing. The Cognologist sees a need to foster a ‘market in ideas’ and to empower individuals and groups to be entrepreneurs by producing their own direction.
The Cognologist specialises in health industry issues (strategy, innovation, technologies), covering anything really, from air pollution and its impact on people, to whether there should be more MRIs in use and how should they be paid for. The Cognologist also has diverse opinions on the operation of regulatory organisations — remember, regulators are monopoly suppliers of regulation so if they do a bad job we all experience the consequences.
Areas the Cognologist has worked in include the problem with trade in counterfeit prescription medicines, the commercialisation of research, and how to govern whole health systems, as well as experience in developing consumer-friendly interactive media (television and internet) to help people take control of their own healthcare.
Comments always welcomed.
